Obituary of Margaret K. Stolee
Margaret K. "Meg" Stolee, Ph.D., age 65, of Geneseo, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Gohlman, Ph.D., father, Michael Stolee and brother, Paul Stolee.
She is survived by her four children, Paul Gohlman of Groveland, Joe Gohlman of TN, Rob Gohlman of PA, Tina Matthews, grandchildren, Destiny and Jaxon Matthews all of Geneseo, mother, Marilyn Stolee of MN, sister, Anne Stolee of Washington, D.C.
Margaret was born February 1, 1954 in Austin, MN, the daughter of Michael and Marilyn Sandbo Stolee. She was a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and Duke University. Meg was a History Professor at SUNY Geneseo from 1985 until her retirement in 2018. Her research interests focused on Russia, comparative revolutions and the social history of Europe. She received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in 2010 for Faculty Service and the President's Award for Excellence in 2002 for Academic Advising.
A Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 2-5 PM at the Big Tree Inn, 46 Main St. in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Geneseo Foundation, History Department, Erwin 11, 1 College Circle, Geneseo, NY 14454.
