Obituary of Donald C. Mills

Donald Carew Mills, 92, of Geneseo, died May 8, 2019 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Douglas and sister, Rejean Mills.

He is survived by his nieces, Joan McGraw (Patrick) Barry, Marian McGraw and Janet McGraw Filby, his sister-in-law, E. Sue Mills, several great nieces and nephews.

He was born August 15, 1926 in Geneseo, NY the son of Dr. Walter and Edna Carew Mills. Donald was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran. He spent 4 months in Manila, Philippines and 8 months in Japan. In 2009, his service was remembered as part of the Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington, D.C. He began his teaching career in 1951 as a sixth grade teacher and later a high school English/Drama teacher, retiring after 30 years. He directed numerous high school senior plays and was an active member of the Geneseo Community Players for many years. He enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader.

No prior calling hours. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Geneseo Wadsworth Library, 24 Center St., Geneseo, NY 14454.
