Doug,
I'm just learning of the passing of your mother. I'm so sorry I didn't know sooner; she was a good friend and I enjoyed the many happy times we spent together, either gambling, shopping, or working together at BOCES. She was a close friend that I felt comfortable sharing confidences with. RIP you COB (a private joke between Arlene and I).

Doug and family, sorry to hear of your mom’s death. I so enjoyed visiting her at Morgan Estates and learning more about our great grandparents and family history. It is the end of an era for that part of our family. You will be in my prayers.BrEGp

Dear Doug,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Arlene. She was such a good friend to my Mom. There was always laughter whenever Arlene would visit or call. My Mom would often tell me that "Pitiful" called and quite often she wasn't able to relay the news from Arlene because she was laughing so hard! Your Mom was quite a character and a great person. May she rest in peace.

We at WXXI Reachout Radio are greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Arlene. Although we never met in person, we talked often when she'd call the station. Reachout Radio was such an important part of her life and provided her such companionship.
A few years ago she even was willing to tell how Reachout Radio was a part of her life for our annual appeal letter. She was so willing to share her story in order to help the service that meant so much to her.
Thank you for allowing us to serve her and to know this fine lady and friend.
Ruth Phinney, Program Director, WXXI Reachout Radio

Arlene was a playmate of mine many, many years ago. Her house was down a path around the corner and she was my best friend. We often conspired on how to outwit her brother and my three brothers. She was ahead of me in school but we still walked up Wadsworth Street together carrying, as she remembered, our little clarinet cases. It was special to see her at a reunion some years ago as she was a special lady.

Remembering Arlene’s wry smile and wonderful sense of humor. Way funnier than Rocket!
Arlene’s passing is a community loss and she will be missed.

I remember Arlene from our days at GCHS playing in the band and going to every Firemen’s Parade on Friday nights. She was my clarinet mentor who struggled to keep us newbies in line for band director Al Castle. She was a great friend and later a devoted mother to son, Doug. People like Arlene are never forgotten..
