I served with Stirlin in the US Navy in1966 at the Little Creek Amphibious Base at the Assualt Boat Coxswain School. Being from Rochester rode many times to Rochester with Stirlin. I met his dad during many trips to Rochester. I met Stirlin again at a Benefit Concert at the Eastman theater for Veterans Outreach Center. He was a great friend but after moving to Pennsylvania I lost track of him.

I never met Stirlin, but I have it on authority that he was a great man. My oldest brother Bill, who passed away in 2010, served with him on a SWIFT boat in Vietnam. Sterlin was the ranking enlisted man on that crew and he had their respect. Deep condolences for his family.

I'd run into Stirlin at 180 St. Paul from time to time (many years ago). He never had a bad word for anyone - an obviously gentle person, and truly a nice guy. I was saddened to hear of his death, and my deepest condolences to his family. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Dear Beth and Sean and Terumi,
Stirlin was a special man so remember all the memories you can and savour them often he will always be with you in spirit.
Sean I had just lost my oldest brother and was hacking down roots Tavern Rd to accept he was gone when your parents came driving up the road. Your Dad got out of the car and asked what was wrong & your Mom was sitting inside while he and I were talking when she said the words "baby" and "hospital". I waved & trotted off and was comforted that life does go on a new baby was coming!
Much love to you all,
Karen

Dear Beth Anne, Sean, & the rest of Stirlin's loving family:
We are so saddened to hear of Stirlin's passing. He is with the Lord now, and those left behind now must find strength to go on after him.
He was a very special man. Creative, Caring, and Funny. I will never forget the time I was able to spend with him as he worked behind the camera for a Kodak Demo film. I was a "beginner" at that time, and he was a great teacher and mentor. It goes without saying that it was a joy to ride with him & Rayne and the GVH hounds as well. Then there are the many times out with Roscommon Beagles and his many volunteer hours working with the GVRDC teams. One fond memory is him on his old tractor - right out of a storybook!!
How blessed we are to have all these wonderful memories of him. Godspeed Stirlin!
With Love & Sympathy,
Diane & Fred

Beth so sorry for your loss. Stirlin was such a wonderful person in so many ways. As a fellow veteran I was always impressed by his devotion to his country and his pride in having served his country in wartime service. Unfortunately Susie and I will be out of town on a previously planned engagement and are very sorry we cannot be at his memorial service. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family during this difficult time. Steve and Susie

Beth, Sean and all the rest of Stirlin's family,
It was a shock to learn that Stirlin has left us. Bob and I have many wonderful memories of him over the years. I, especially enjoyed my times in the hunt field with him. The last few years have been rough on everyone who knew him but especially for the family and Stirlin himself. I hope that the knowledge of how much Stirlin was loved and respected will give you comfort at this most difficult time.
