Obituary of Clifton Alger

Clifton "Cliff" Alger, 99, of Morgan Estates in Geneseo, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. Cliff was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Townley Alger on January 1, 2011. He is survived by 3 sons, Gary (Alice) Alger of Chili, Terry (Elaine) Alger of Victor, David (Sally) Alger of Tacoma, WA, 6 grandchildren, Terilee (Eric) Shultis of East Homer, NY, Jonathan (Mary Ann) Alger of Harrisonburg, VA, Susan (Scott Altenhoff) Alger of Eugene, OR, Terry (Kari) Alger of San Antonio, TX, Dan (Charlene) Alger of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Hannah Levin of Seattle, WA, 6 great grandchildren, Katrina and Benjamin Shultis, Eleanor Alger, Sonia Altenhoff, Madison and Molly Alger, 2 sisters, Jessie McGill of Irvine, CA and Dorothy (Charles) Vandas of Sun City, AZ, many nieces and nephews. Cliff was born August 7, 1914 in Cuylerville, NY the son of Raymond and Lillian Nye Alger. He retired from International Salt Mine in Retsof, NY. Cliff was an Elder in the Central Presbyterian Church in Geneseo. He was a longtime member of the Geneseo Fire Department and in 1966 was awarded the prestigious Fireman of the Year Award for the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Livingston County Volunteer Firemen's Association. No Prior Calling Hours. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2 PM at the Central Presbyterian Church in Geneseo with Pastor Nancy Lowmaster officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
