Obituary of Emerson H. Johnston

Emerson H. Johnston, age 94, of Jacqueline Way in Geneseo, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his residence. He was predeceased by his brothers, David and Alvin Johnston, sisters, Lois Fritz, Ethel Nichols and Ruth Sage. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Dietzel Johnston, son, James (Kris) Johnston of Geneseo, daughters, Lenellen (Douglas) Johnstone of Atlanta, GA, Norma (Roger Fugle) Fuller of Conesus, Alma (Stony) Bing of Grand Rapids, MI, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Emerson was born November 14, 1922 in Mt. Morris, NY the son of James and Ernestine Kellogg Johnston. He was a US World War II Army European Theater Veteran. He married Mildred E. Dietzel on September 29, 1943. Emerson retired from the Xerox Corporation in Rochester. He also was an Insurance Salesman for Prudential Insurance Company in Mt. Morris and a Car Salesman with Bob Waring for Ide Chevy in Geneseo. Emerson was a former Scout Master for Troop 72 in Geneseo. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Livingston Country Club, Past Commander of the VFW Post #5005 and American Legion 271 in Geneseo. Emerson's family would like to thank, Lori and Serena from Livingston County Hospice and Dr. Romanick and staff for Emerson's wonderful care. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11 AM at the Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo with Lucille Kane officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510 or VFW Post # 5005, PO Box 221, Geneseo, NY 14454.
