A most remarkable person. I was surprised and profoundly saddened to read of his loss. I only knew Emmett for a few short months in 1983, and his warmth, charm, and wit were endearing. Peace to Emmett J. Houston and his family.

We were sorry to hear of Emmet's passing. He befriended us when we were in college and always brought a smile with him. Though our paths went separate ways, we have often laughed at those memories. Our deepest condolences extend to your family.

What a handsome picture of Emmet!
Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss. Emmet made such a lasting impact on the people who knew and loved him- as I'm sure you know! I was at Geneseo from 1988-1992 and was always inspired by his wonderful personality and passion for people and life. My heart is with you today on this difficult day -- among difficult days... I wish I could pay my respects in person.
Love to you all,

My deepest condolences go to the Houston family. Emmet and fun went hand in hand! I can remember him visiting us in Rochester over at my sister's Karen's home in the "beyond" room singing "Bobby McGee" with Bobby Pin! And reading my childhood book "My Friend The Cow" and how funny he was interpreting it! His smile and laughter and unique personality will be our loss but heaven's gain. He lived life to the fullest and has left behind such fond memories. All our lives have been richly blessed having had him in it. Whenever I think of Emmet, it truly puts a smile on my face and happiness in my heart. May his soul find everlasting peace and joy singing on the streets of gold!

Kathleen, So sorry to hear about Emmett. My memories are of many years ago when we were just kids and we would have all the family together for Christmas dinner. What great times! The GCS class of 1979 will never be the same without our Emmet. He was wonderful, funny, one-of-a-kind, and certainly irreplaceable. Kathleen, my heart aches for all you have endured; my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I knew Emmet in Geneseo, in Yosemite, in New Orleans....and now I know him in every sweet breeze that blows and every impish impulse I feel. Gone too soon, I hope his dear sister Kathleen and his extended international family can take comfort that he is now reunited with his beloved Davy, and the two of them are dancing the days away together after shuffling off this mortal coil. Peace to us all.
