Obituary of Virginia M. Durbin

Virginia M. "Ginny" Durbin, age 67, of Main St. in York, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at her residence. She was predeceased by her husband Don and her father George Hirschberger. She is survived by her children, Andrew Durbin of Dansville, Matthew (Sarah) Durbin of Cuylerville, grandson, Jack Durbin, mother, Eleanor Hirschberger of Ithaca, brothers, George (Carol) Hirschberger of Long Island, Lawrence (Saoirse) Hirschberger of Ithaca, Stephen (Beth) Hirschberger of Palm Bay, FL, sisters in law, Barbara (William) Marfurt of Williamsville, Susan Hirschberger of Ithaca, several nieces and nephews. Ginny was born July 16, 1948 in the borough of Manhattan in New York City to George and Eleanor Hackett Hirschberger. She taught at York Central School for 38 years and was a member of their Board of Education. Ginny was also a member of the Livingston-Wyoming ARC Board of Directors. She was a member of the Genesee Valley Hunt and was active in the Geneseo Community Players. Ginny also belonged to the Adirondack Club and volunteered at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Friends may call Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Lucy's Church in Retsof. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.
