Ginny was my cooperating teacher in the fall of 1975. She was a joy and an inspiration to work with, and I learned a lot from her. After my student teaching ended, she graciously allowed me to return to York Central School to work with some of her students who were struggling with reading. The months that I spent in her classroom were very special, and she and her third grade colleagues made me feel welcome and supported. I especially remember how she read the book A Cranberry Thanksgiving to her students and how they made cranberry bread from the recipe in the book, a tradition I continue in my classroom today. My career path took me out of Livingston County when I graduated Geneseo, but I never forgot how she nurtured me and supported me. My career spans nearly 40 years, now, but I will always appreciate the major contribution she made to my career by inspiring me through her work with her students. May she rest in peace, and I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Andy, Matt and Family, My deepest condolences on the loss of your wonderful mom. Ginny taught my son Joseph about 20 years ago when he was in Grade 3. As the years passed and she and I would run into each other various places in the community, she would always enquire about him with genuine interest and fondness. She was that dedicated, caring and committed to her students. Ginny was a treasure!

Our heartfelt condolences to Andy, Matt and family! Bob and I first met Ginny back in 1976 when Bob became a teaching colleague with her at YCS. I got to know Ginny when a group of us new mothers met with our babies for lunch and playtime. As a theatre teacher and member of GCP, I also worked with Ginny on many a production, always enjoying her hearty sense of humor as she worked either backstage or onstage. She was always quick with a smile and an entertaining story. So very sad she had to leave us but grateful she is no longer suffering. You are in our prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about Ginny. She and I met in while in a play with GCP. It was her first show and she had the opening line which was a swear word and she was embarrassed to say it. She pulled it off beautifully. We had the best time. She always made me smile. She will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

To the Families of Virginia Durbin: I read of the loss of your dear loved one, and would like to extend my condolences. A few weeks ago, I lost a member of my family to cancer, and I understand the grief and sorrow that you are feeling at this time. Although it is never easy to deal with the loss of a loved one, Our Heavenly Father gives us the strength to cope. His Word, the Bible, assures us that He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). May your many precious memories and the peace of God, bring a measure of comfort to your grieving hearts through another very difficult time (2 Corinthians 1:3,4; Philippians 4:6,7). Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am saddened to learn of Ginny's passing. She was my Third grade teacher at YCS in the 1970's, and I remember her as being one of kindest and patient of people. She was always there with reassurance and friendly guidance. I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to her family in this sad time. She will be remembered with fond memories from myself and the other former students who were fortunate enough to have been mentored by her.

Ginny, a bright star in my life. I met her in the mid 80's and had the privilege of meeting Don, as well. Ginny was one of the kindest, most fun loving people I have ever known. We attended hunt balls and luncheons together, and rode horses through the beautiful fields and hills of her beloved hunt country with other special friends, and Ginny was always laughing and light hearted. A down to earth, giving, and wonderful person whose energy and gifts will be felt for many, many years to come. I will never forget her. My deepest sympthies to all of Ginny's family and friends. May the light of our many incredible memories of her shine through the darkness of our grief.

How do you say good bye to a friend whom you've known for almost 50 years? How do you say good bye to one of the most courageous people you've ever known? How do you say good bye to the woman, who was the wife of your departed best friend and a constant reminder of that friendship? There are no words to express the feeling of loss and the emptiness that goes with losing someone who you thought would always be there. For the rest of my life, whenever I pass the Durbin home, and that will be everyday, I will think fondly of Don and Ginny and the great times that Nora and I spent in their company. How do you say good bye? The answer is simple; you don't. Gin, until we meet again, God bless you and may you rest in peace.
