As one of probably 6 or so young impressionable boys growing up on Prospect in the early 1970's, we were all greatly
impressed by Pete Maloney.
He was a big strong larger than life guy who embodied many characteristics we all looked at with a bit of awe.
I remember that super cool Grand Torino he had.
I remember him giving us a ride in his brand new pick up truck..new like I had never seen before...straight from the dealer.
I remember his super kind wife Kathy always taking an interest in the well being of all the neighborhood kids.
I remember when that fire whistle would blow, he and Bob Eaton simultaneously running to their vehicles, houses side by side,
gravel slinging, tires spinning, and their cars tearing up the street one after the other in the direction of whatever calamity was
calling like a couple of modern day super heroes.
When the Maloney's moved away we of course were not happy to see them go, but we suffered no drop off in guys we
youngsters looked at with awe when Pete Buchholz moved in...with his wife Frankie embodying the same kindness we were
used to from Kathy Maloney.
What a great street to grow up on!
The last time I saw Pete Maloney I was with Sean Eaton at the Statesman Bar on Court st...must have been late 80's(?).
He was then talking to us as adults instead of as kids on the street. He was cordial and friendly and remembered us well.
We certainly remember him well.

I fondly remember meeting Pete when I bartended at The Statesman many years ago. His personality was as big as one would expect upon seeing him. His voice was low and his tone often serious making his laughter more dramatic. I measured my success when I knew Pete liked me. I loved him even more when he married Kitty and they shared three beautiful daughters together. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Peter, you were dad’s best friend. I am so sorry for your family’s loss, but so happy that you are with him now. I’m sure it was one hell of a reunion lol. You were a wonderful man and you, Michael & Robin were such a huge presence in my world growing up. Oh the shenanigans at the apartment on Groveland Rd., LOL!! I will always love you all with all my heart. I hope you are healthy now and flashing that million dollar smile of yours every minute. Hug dad for me please. Love, Monica

I have great memories of Pete—- first from meeting him at the Palace Lounge and then through the many years in Geneseo—mostly at a favorite townie hang out—Kelly’s Saloon. Pete had a big personality, a magnetic smile, and always ready to tell a great story. Pete will be missed. To the entire Maloney family- my thoughts are with you.
