Both my wife Cris and I are saddened by Myrt's passing. She was a long-time client of mine with all her dogs and most recently her cat. She was a force to be reconned with. Our deepest condolences go out to her family. She will be dearly missed here in Geneseo. May she rest in peace.

Myrt was a dear friend of the Mahood family, having shared a lot of time with Wayne at the college and on many committees with Bobbi. Her presence in Geneseo was large and profound. She was highly respected throughout her adopted hometown and no honor was undeserved. She lived a full and accomplished life and set a standard for us all to pursue. Our family will miss her greatly. Rest in peace, Myrt, and thank you for all that you did in your many years with us.

Dr. Merritt was my father’s first cousin and as we lived in the Amanas, not far from Norway we would visit the Merritt farm just east of Norway regularly. Aunt Myrtle was an inspiring soul. Bigger than life, she was what we youngsters aspired to be…strong, confident, able and happy. My Dad especially loved her as a Big sister who encouraged him a nd cheered on his successes.
She was a torch bearer for women’s athletics and that has always been a source of pride for my family. She lived a beautiful and important life ….there will never be anyone quite like Myrtle Merritt.

My condolences to all of Myrt's family. I have known her since I was a little boy at the Geneseo United Methodist Church. She was always kind and fun. She was absolutely a figurehead in the Geneseo community, and of SUNY Geneseo, both she loved so much.
She has left a wonderful legacy and will be greatly missed.
