Obituary of James B. Morgan

James B. Morgan, age 83, of Linwood, passed peacefully Sunday, May 19, 2024 at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Mabel Morgan, brother, John "Jack" Morgan.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Bonita Morgan, son, John (Kaye) Morgan, daughters, Elizabeth (Kevin) Niedermaier, Leigh (David Coffey) Major, grandchildren, Jaclyn (Austin Colomaio) Morgan, Matthew (Samantha Britt) Morgan, Walker and Morgan Major, Adam Niedermaier, sister Mary Lue (George) Mueller, brother in law and sisters in law, Ronald (Loretta) Crosser, Mardi Crosser, many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Jim was born February 23, 1941 in Batavia, NY the son of Ralph Dudley Morgan and Mabel Walker Morgan. He was a graduate of York Central School class of 1959. Jim earned his Bachelor's Degree from Mount Union College in Alliance, OH in 1964. He was the Past President and Owner of Woodlawn Farms, Inc. in Linwood. Jim was also the Past President of the Livingston County Farm Bureau. He was an Agriculture Representative to the NY Manpower Commissions under Governor Rockefeller and served on the Pro-Fac Beet committee.

Jim was a longtime member and former trustee of the York United Presbyterian Church. He was the first President of the Board of Director's for Little Path in the Big Woods Nursery School. Jim also served the community as a member of the York Volunteer Fire Company where he served as President and chairman of the board. He was a former Captain and EMT for the York Volunteer Ambulance. Jim was a 25 year member and Chairman of the Town of York Planning Committee. He also served as the Code Officer for the Town of York and also the Town and Village of Leicester. Jim was a past member of the Livingston County Planning Board and Livingston County Environmental Council.

Jim was an avid reader and collector of antiquarian books with a wide knowledge of western history. He spent time as a working cowboy on a ranch in New Mexico. Jim was a Walt Disney Fanatic. He was a loving husband, dedicated and proud father and grandfather. Jim especially enjoyed following and supporting all of his grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

No prior calling hours. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 3 PM at the York United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michelle Sumption officiating. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 5 PM at Woodlawn Distilling, 2007 York Road West, Linwood, NY 14486.
