Obituary of Evelyn Elizabeth "Betsie" Ryan Regal

Evelyn Elizabeth Ryan Regal "Betsie", age 80, of Mount Morris, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on January 13, 2024 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph, with whom they shared 58 years of love and companionship. Together they raised three children; Colleen (Michael) Viti of Pittsburgh, PA, Courtney (Scott) Marshall of Webster, NY and Ryan (Holly) Regal of Mount Morris, NY; 9 grandchildren, Kyle (Marissa), Will, Shannon, JJ, Sean, Anne, Madelynn, Cameron and Molly; 3 great grandchildren, Greyson, Braelyn and Gabriella; all of whom she loved dearly. In addition, she will be loved and missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. She always found great joy in being together with family.

Betsie was born on October 15, 1943 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY the daughter of Bernard Thomas Ryan and Evelyn "Cis" Elizabeth Quirk Ryan. She was raised in Geneseo with her siblings, Bernard (Barbara), Sean (Patsy), Mary (Rod) and Patsie (Vince). In 1965 she married Joseph, and she was embraced into the Regal family which included her mother-in-law, Josephine and sister-in-law, Linda (Louis). Betsie was a proud and dedicated Catholic, using her faith as a source of guidance throughout her lifetime. She was very involved in several charities and other passions, including Catholic Charities, the St. Patrick's Rosary Society and Camp Stella Maris. Betsie also was the founder and president of the Mount Morris Garden Club, for which she received national recognition. One of her greatest accomplishments professionally included being the Coppercraft Guild District Manager, among many other things which brought her great joy.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betsie's name can be made to Catholic Charities of Livingston County, 34 East State St., Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
