Obituary of Joseph J. Montemarano

Joseph J. Montemarano Sr., age 103, of Leicester, died Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, son in law John LaGeorge, and his 11 siblings, Ruby Vertino, Mary Orlando, Rose McCart, Peter, Louis, Gerald, Mauro, Michael, Pat, Ray and Vito Montemarano He is survived by his children, Joseph (Kathy) Montemarano Jr. of Leicester, Linda LaGeorge of Geneseo, Lauraine Montemarano of Leicester, grandchildren, Justin (Nicole) Montemarano, Leandra (Ben) Shelton, Aprile (Leonard) Mack, Rachel (Gary Converse) LaGeorge, Tricia (David) Shaffer and Erica Montemarano, great grandchildren, Marceline, Lenny, Gary, DJ, Juliette and Kinley, many nieces and nephews. Joe was born April 22, 1919 in Cuylerville, NY the son of Dominic and Maria Marcello Montemarano. He was a World War II US Army veteran. Joe was employed at Pavilion Natural Gas in Geneseo and then Rochester Gas and Electric in Geneseo before retiring in 1974. He then started Montemarano's Backhoe Service in Leicester and worked until shortly before his death. Joe enjoyed his many trips with his family to Seneca Alleghany Resort and Casino in Salamanca. Friends may call Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4-7 pm at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 4, 2023 at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to Geneseo VFW Post 5005, PO Box 221, Geneseo, NY 14454. .
