"Dutch" was a well-known person here in Osceola, having graduated from Camden Central School and his mother was born and raised here. He was always a friendly and likeable person. As often happens, we lose track of our High School friends and sometimes never reconnect but I met him again at Genessee Country Museum Village for several years at the Fiddler's Fair Event there. Dutch came and called Square Dances and I think he may have participated with the Moore family when he came back to visit. We visited and enjoyed the music. I have looked for him the last few years but now I know why he wasn't there. He will be missed. Leona Clemens Chereshnoski

Glenda and family, I happened upon Dutch’s obituary while searching out information on Mike Woods passing. Although it has been 50+ years, I still have great memories of Geneseo and Phi Sig. Glenda, you and Dutch helped keep “ the Brothers” on the straight and narrow.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I first met Dutch at York Central School as a student in one of his physics classes. Of course, it was Mr. VanRy then. Although I don't remember much about that class I am not blaming Dutch. As I recall, there was a ripple tank and something about a body at rest.
Years later I really got to know Dutch and his family through Kiwanis. Dutch was an integral part of the York-Leicester club.
As for that body at rest, it was never Dutch. He was always doing something. Helping people, building things, making things better. He did a lot to build up the community, especially "Beautiful Downtown Piffard".
He certainly will be missed.

The whole Scherline family mourns the passing of our good friend, Dutch VanRy. He literally spent years with us restoring our home and bringing good cheer to our house. We saw the boys grow up to be fine men. He certainly will be missed. Our deepest and most sincere condolences go out to his entire family.

Mr. VanRy was an awesome Chemistry teacher at YCS! He guided me as I struggled with Chemistry and got me through to pass the Chemistry regents--was able to graduate with my Regents diploma--so appreciated!
Sympathy to the VanRy family and may Mr. VanRy "rest in peace".

This is truly a sad time. Dutch was a wonderful person and I always enjoyed time spent talking with him about any subject. He was instrumental in my son Jason achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He will be missed.
