Obituary of William E. Carman
William E. "Billy" Carman, age 66, of Groveland, passed away peacefully Monday, May 31, 2021 surrounded by family and friends at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents, Skip and Helen Carman, brother, Bobby Carman and father in law, R.W. Boyle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Julie Boyle Carman, children, Brooke (James Pukas) Carman of Groveland, William (Meghan) Przysinda of Groveland, granddaughters, Penelope Rose and Lucy Carman, siblings, Lee (Chuck) Decker of Old Chatham, NY, Cathy Carman of Geneseo, Lisa (Ron) Niedermaier of Groveland, Lew Carman of Colorado Springs, CO, Wendy (Chuck) Simer of Geneseo, mother in law, Ruth Boyle, sisters in law, Colleen (Tom) Zanghi, Lisa (Stu) Townes all of Perry, several cousins including, Bobby (Nancy) Scheidt of Groveland, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends including, Steve (Diann) Burnette of Geneseo.
Billy was born July 1, 1954 in Neptune, NJ the son of Leon R. and Helen Sylvester Carman Jr. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School, Class of 1972 and earned his associate degree from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica. Billy owned and operated Carman Electric Inc. with little Bill and James. He was a lifetime member of the Groveland Fire Department. Billy was dedicated to the Town of Groveland, serving 17 years on the Zoning Board, 10 of which he served as Chairman. He was a Town Councilman for 9 years, Deputy Supervisor for 2 years and has been serving as Town Supervisor for the last 8 years. Billy also served as Vice-Chairman for Livingston County Public Services and a member of the Livingston County Agricultural Board. In 2017 he was the Groveland Senior Citizen of the year and also received the Livingston-Wyoming ARC Hero award that same year.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11 AM at the Geneseo United Methodist Church, 4520 Genesee St. (Route 63) in Geneseo with Pastors Dorothy Hotchkiss and Butch Mothersell officiating. Private Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.
