I was grieved to come across Tom's obit in the NY Times. I worked for him for about a year at Columbia and he was instrumental in teaching me so much about so many different topics. I cried when he left for Geneseo where a few years later I once visited with them. My condolences to Charity and Alexandra whom I remember as lovely young children. Anne was a delight too. I still have Tom's 1969 graduation gift to me of T. (Thomas) S. (Seery) Eliot's collected poems. Postcards from Scotland, old pipe tobacco tins in which I keep buttons and the like. Perhaps one of the girls could contact me at Doris.Safie@gmail.com? I myself am now 81 and have no more need for keepsakes. I'd love to know when Anne passed too. I still remember one of her more endearing remarks (besides frantically looking for her makeup in order to restore her "American good looks!" She WAS indeed beautiful.) And she once thanked me for taking such good care of her husband. The term "office wife" was still in vogue then. Anyway my thoughts and prayers to you all.

We were sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I have heard that his leadership at SUNY Geneseo was transformative and that he was highly instrumental in putting the college on its road to success. As faculty, we are grateful for that. But more personally, we so enjoyed seeing him and MIss Deb on Saturdays when my family lunched or shopped at Wegman's. He and my son were quite the buddies. We are grateful for Tom's life and service and friendship. You have our deepest condolences.
