Obituary of Dante Thomas Zaccagnini

Dante Thomas Zaccagnini, 91, of Lima Rd. in Geneseo, died October 31, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Rafael Zaccagnini and Rose DiGreggorio Zaccagnini, and his brothers Mario and George Zaccagnini. He is survived by his wife, Constance "Connie" North Thomas, son, Soren (Kathleen Houston) Thomas, grandchildren, Felicity, Katherine "Kate", Isabelle, James, and Elizabeth "Poppy" Thomas, his sisters, Josephine Campoli and Clara Massaro, brother, Raymond Zaccagnini, brother-in-law, Douglas (Ellen) North and numerous nieces and nephews. Dante was a retired Professor Emeritus of English at SUNY Geneseo, where he was a devoted teacher from 1966 until the early 1990's. An avid life-long reader and scholar, he enthusiastically and generously passed on his knowledge and love for literature and the humanities to many students and friends over many decades. Friends, colleagues and former students may call Friday, November 8, 2013 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the form of book donations to Goodwill, 4119 Lakeville Rd. in Geneseo or Literacy Volunteers of Livingston County, 3 Mt. Morris-Leicester Rd., Leicester, NY 14481.
