Obituary of Robert W. Yull

Robert W. Yull, age 94, of North St. in Geneseo, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 10, 2020 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Burrows Yull whom he married in 1948, sons, Robert (Kathy) Yull of Westfield, IN Thomas (Denise) Yull of Apalachin, NY, grandchildren, Rob (Emily) Yull, Keith (Nicole) Yull, Gina and Rachel Yull, great grandchildren, Aaron, Caleb, Natalie and Maya. Robert was born May 29, 1925 in Geneseo, NY the son of Robert and Margaret Kelly Yull. He was a 1943 Graduate of East Aurora High School. Upon graduation, Bob joined the US Navy and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WWII. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1946, he graduated from Geneseo State College in 1949 and later received his Master's Degree from RIT. He taught Special Education in Endicott, NY before joining Rochester Telephone in 1953, where he worked until his retirement in 1989. Bob served as a Village Board Member including 6 years as Deputy Mayor, 21 years on the Livingston County Planning Board, longtime member of the Tri County Planning Board, 15 years on the BOCES School Board and 7 years on the Geneseo School Board. He was a longtime member of the Geneseo Kiwanis Club where he served as Secretary and was an active member of Geneseo VFW Post 5005 where he served as Past Commander. Bob also served as President of the Geneseo State Alumni Association in the 1970's. Due to COVID-19 there will be no prior calling hours. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10 AM at Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo with Lucille Kane officiating. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 5005, PO Box 221, Geneseo, NY 14454 or the Geneseo Ambulance Fund, PO Box 428, Geneseo, NY 14454.
