Obituary of Leo J. Cichelli Sr.

Leo J. Cichelli, Sr., age 84, of Leicester, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Augustine and Jennie Cichelli, grandson, Augustine Cichelli, sisters, Rita Valente, Nellie Panozzo, Dolly Alessi, Lucy LoVerde, and brothers, Louis and Alex Cichelli. He is survived by his wife, Josephine, children, Leo (Terri Capurso) Cichelli Jr. of Leicester, Regina (Carl) Swanson of Mt. Morris, Margaret (Tim Hamler) Brooks of Avon, Louis (Marcie) Cichelli of Castile, grandchildren, Ronan (Rikki), Jordan (Ashley), Adam, Christopher (Amy), Raymond (Tiffany) Jr., Tyler, Anthony (Ashley), Joshua (Cassandra), brother, John (Annie) Cichelli of Retsof, sister, Nina (Joe) LaGeorge of Mt. Morris, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leo was born March 10, 1935 in Retsof, NY the son of Augustine and Jennie Catarra Cichelli. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the VFW Post 634 in Leicester. Leo retired from Akzo-Nobel Salt Mine in Retsof. He was a longtime member of the A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsman Club in Cuylerville. Leo was an avid bowler, baseball player, golfer and always was quick with a joke. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Lucy's Church in Retsof with Father Jeff Tunnicliff officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 11 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
