Obituary of James C. Merrick
James C. Merrick, age 84, of Groveland, died Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Lois Essler Merrick.
He is survived by his children, Ron (Marsha) Merrick of Geneseo, Lenis (Greg) Adamson of Groveland, grandchildren, James (Rachel) Merrick of Geneseo, Andrea Frisch of Groveland, Amanda (Doug) Schultz of Piffard, Joshua (Julie Schultz) Adamson of Groveland, Laura Adamson of Groveland, great grandchildren, Kayla Schultz, Haley and Wyatt Adamson, Charlie and Lucy Merrick, brother, William Merrick of Groveland, many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born March 26, 1935 in Ashtabula, OH the son of James W. and Anna Zuris Merrick. He began his career as a foreman for Livingston Tree Surgeons in Groveland. Jim served as Supervisor at Eastman Kodak in the Grounds and Maintenance Department at the Elmgrove Plant where he retired after 28 years of service. He served as Groveland Town Supervisor for 22 years and Livingston County as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for 15 years.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11 AM at the Geneseo United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Griswold officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.
