Obituary of Mary Ellen Callahan

Mary Ellen Callahan, age 95, of Retsof, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at her residence. She was predeceased by her first husband, James V. Farruggia, parents, Clara Hagan, George and Ruth Schery, son in law, Larry Foote. She is survived by her husband, James Callahan, children, Jeff (Linda) Farruggia of Louden, TN, Jill (Ken Mock) Foote of Retsof, step children, James Callahan Jr. of Rochester, Brenda Callahan of Rochester, Dennis Callahan of Rochester, Thomas (Vicki) Callahan of Webster, grandchildren, Adam Foote of Retsof, James (Bonnie) Foote of West Sparta, Elaine Barr of NC, Tracy Callahan of Buffalo, great grandchildren, Isabella, Bishop and Marcus, sisters, Dixie (Larry) Chichester of Piffard, Marce Schery of Pavilion, sister in law, Mary (Art) Bernecker of Retsof, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was born April 11, 1924 in Lackawanna, NY. She was a longtime member of St. Lucy's Church and former president and member of St. Lucy's Rosary Society. Mary Ellen was also a member of the Retsof Hose Auxiliary. She worked for over 20 years and retired from Sanders Publications in Geneseo. No prior calling hours. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Lucy's Church in Retsof with Father Edward Dillon officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the York Ambulance Fund, PO Box 95, York, NY 14592.
