Rikki
Sadly we never stayed in touch over the years, tho I did peek in and see your accomplishments, travels and influences on so many people across the country and in the dressage world. I would want you, family and friends to know too, that even in your youngest horse-soul of the 70s, you were undoubtedly the most influential horse person for life, in my earliest days on the plains of Nebraska. And I would hope as others grieve they recognize and cherish too the wide-reaching impact you had in so many ways, for so long, and for so many others. We all grieve, but we all share joy together in you as a kind but high expectations woman and as the finest horse instructor in the land. Your young ornery, rebellious, midwest cowboy dressage rider:)

Oh Rikki-
I'm so glad we had all those high school escapades together along with Nancy Burton. You always knew what path you would follow and we applaud you for reaching for the stars and making those dreams come true.
Shine on! We'll meet back up some day.
Always and forever,
Merry (Cash) Perry

Rikki took me horseback riding when we were in 7th grade. Her love for horses was very apparent back then. You have touched so many lives doing what you loved Rikki. May God bring peace to your family.

Rikki was a childhood friend and neighbor, she was crazy about horses back then, the neighbors across her street had horses we got buckets to climb on those horses to ride bareback only to be swept off by low hanging branches !! So sorry for your loss, she became a very talented successful woman.

Rikki was one of the best dressage instructors I have ever known! I met her by accident one day when I was driving by barns in Indio, CA. She had a business there and I was visiting with my husband. We were looking for a trainer to help me with my dressage horse, Cashmere. Rikki and I started working together and I started inviting her out to Jackson Hole, WY to do dressage clinics. Everyone always loved having her and learning from her. She will be greatly missed! ❤️

I just found out about Rikki. It’s been years but I used to go down to Selby Stables and ride with Rikki.
I learned more from her than anyone.
When a problem arises with a horse I stop and think “what would Rikki do” to this day.efr5D

Rikki was "the real deal" - honest, compassionate, caring, and intent on eliciting the best from each rider and horse she coached or trained. She saw the "big picture" and encouraged everyone to be mutually supportive in their endeavors, realizing that when one succeeds, we ALL can be inspired and encouraged. Now that she has changed her residence from Caledonia to God's loving arms in Heaven, I believe the best way we can honor her memory is to continue to apply the life lessons she so graciously shared. I am sad because I miss her bright spirit, but I am happy for her that she can now ride freely across the verdant meadows of Heaven, with the weakness and frustrations of a failing earthly body no longer holding her back.

Rikki was the most honest person I've ever met. She taught me to tell myself the truth and made me a much happier person. So many things she taught me have become the rules by which I live my life. First go forward. Should is the worst word in the English language. When I had to put my horse down she called me. "I'm sorry," she said. "I loved him, too." I love you, too, Rikki.

Rikki was my dressage trainer 1990-96. Not only was she a beautiful rider, but all her students flourished under her tutelage. We would spend summers at the barn alongside Rikki, listening to her Queen CD and learning about horses and life. She will be missed by a lot of people.
