Obituary of Donald E. Delaney

Donald E. "Dangle" Delaney of Piffard, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the age of 88 years old. He was predeceased by his son, Barry Delaney and brother, Richard Delaney. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Grace Patanella Delaney, his son, Donald (Lynn) Delaney of Venice FL, his daughter, Lynn (Ken) Parnell of Piffard, 4 grandchildren, Delisa (Aaron) Drum, Nicole (Mike) Christiano, Christopher (Pam) Delaney and Michael (Jay Johnson) Delaney, 5 great grandchildren, Tucker and Kyrie Drum, Iva Christiano, Connor and Lauren Delaney, sister in law, Ann Delaney of VT. Don was born June 17, 1930 in Rochester, NY the son of Harold and Sarah Mead Delaney. He grew up in Geneseo and Greigsville, NY. Don spent 12 years working with his father in the family Plumbing and Heating Business before joining Lucidol in 1965. He worked at Lucidol for 27 years until his retirement in 1992. Don was very active during his retirement. He was a Civil War buff and traveled to many of the Civil War battlefields across the east and southeast. He and Grace were interested in Genealogy and spent time tracing their family trees across the northeast and back to both Ireland and Italy. Don was an avid Bills, Sabres and Yankees fan and was always willing to talk about his favorite teams. Most of all Don loved spending time with his family and friends who will miss him dearly. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 1-4 PM at the Rector Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Lucy's Church in Retsof with Father Edward Dillon officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
