I am sorry not to be able to pay my respects today to this remarkable woman. When I moved to Geneseo in the mid-90's it seemed that she was a pillar of everything that mattered to me in this small community. And I mean that almost literally, as if the town would fall apart without her work! Political activism, charity work, cultural and historical organizations -- Sue was a leader in all of them. I last encountered her when my son was raising money and goods for the food pantry for Boy Scout badge a couple of summers ago. She was sharp and witty and community minded -- much as when I first met her. Our community is much stronger in so many ways for her active post-retirement contributions, and sadly weaker now we are without her.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Sue Rabe. My friendship with Sue began when I joined the Geneseo Community Players in the early 1980’s where Sue and her dear friend Anne McCarthy welcomed me into their homes and hearts. Sue was tireless in her support of GCP and for that we were very grateful. Wishing I could be there to celebrate her life, but I am away in Tucson. Know I am there in spirit. You will be missed and always in my heart, Sue.

To the Rabe family~
We've known your mom through the Community Players for years. She was a mentor and inspiration to us all. As a director, to have her as a producer was a gift from God. She was tireless, uplifting, always encouraging and supporting. As an actor, she brightened every scene she was in with her joy and spunk.
Yes. An inspiration for us all. We know you are very proud. May her spirit live within you always.
Beth and Dave Peck, Avon.

Dear Anne, Matthew, Callie and Meg,
I wish to offer you my deepest sympathy at this time. I am so sorry. Sue's death is a great loss to all of you and to so many others who were blessed to know her. Sue (and Val) were wonderful friends to my parents. My siblings and I are very grateful for the kindness and support Sue always offered to my Mom. I have no doubt that Sue and Val now share a new and eternal life together (and I hope they might have found Bill Derby, too!).
Please know of my thoughts and prayers for all of you during these difficult days.

Sue's Family,
I only knew Sue for a short time, but thought a great deal of her. She spoke fondly of each family member, boasting talents and strengths of each one. She was always gracious and kind-hearted to me. May you and she find peace in her death. She was a wonderful person!
Sincerely,

It certainly is a sad day for Geneseo. Sue was always involved; especially in Geneseo Community Players. She was intellegent, active, involved, talented and a lot of fun. I shall certainly miss her bright personality. Our deepest and most sincere condolences to go to her family.

I was sorry to read of Sue's passing. She was a funny, sweet lady and will be missed by all that knew her. Val and Sue were both involved with the Livingston County Historical Society with my husband Dave at the museum and were always fun to be around. God Bless her soul.

I have such fond memories of Sue when we worked together at UofR. She was very intelligent, witty, lively, and a great mentor.
I remember how much she loved her family and spoke of her children often. It was also so sweet to see the interaction between Val and her when he came to the office for their night of movie marathons. Or the day she came into the office on crutches as she had hurt her ankle dancing!
Such a wonderful lady. My deepest condolences to her family. She will be sorely missed by many.

Sue was such a wonderful person. She and I had a special relationship. She was always so patient when explaining to me how wrong I am politically. I will miss her humor and that warm smile. My sincere condolences to family. Geneseo has lost another icon.

Callie and the rest of your family, I am so deeply sorry to learn of your mother's death. Sue was a special person indeed. I always enjoyed talking with her and sharing stories. Her great spirit, compassion, and vitality will be greatly missed. It is nice of you to select the Migrant Scholarship Fund as the source for donations honoring her life. I enjoyed working with Sue over forty some years ago at the Migrant Center and so enjoyed seeing her at the 50th Anniversary Celebration a few weeks ago.
