I started to work at the Wallace Library in1971. Betty and Rita Wirth were the two typists for the library. We would eat lunch together. Sometimes we would play euchre. Every week we would travel to Southtown to look at the bargains in Sibley's bargain store.
Betty quickly picked up the skill of working on the MTST (Magnetic Tape Selectric Typewriter) machine. You could type one library card and the machine would print multiple copies of it, saving you lots of time.
I worked at RIT for 44 years, but I still remember my first few years with Betty, Rita, and the four ladies in my department (Judy, Denise, Amy and Roberta). We had a lot of fun back then.
