Jon, for several days since I heard about your mother's passing, I wanted to sit down and write something that would appropriately express my sympathy. Everything I thought of, however, seemed to me to be either trite or inadequate. When one gets to be my age, both parents and several cherished friends are long gone and all I can do is to tell you, from experience, that as days, months, and years go by it is actually a great comfort (even joy) to remember the good times, which will inevitably pop into your mind at unexpected moments. I hope that you will be able to enjoy them.
