Obituary of William E. Derby

William E. Derby, 87, of Morgan Estates in Geneseo, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, NY. He was predeceased by his daughter Margaret Derby in 1987. He is survived by his wife Mary, children, Sister Connie Derby RSM of Rochester, Paul (Michele) Derby of Schenectady, Martha (Roger) Mock of Altamont, NY, Jean (Tom) McCart of Irondequoit, Philip Derby of Providence, RI, Matthew (Mary Kim) Derby of Pawtucket, RI, 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, brother, Joseph Derby of Star Lake, NY, several nieces and nephews. Bill was born October 26, 1925 in Canton, NY the son of Harris and Mildred O'Brien Derby. He was a US Navy Korean War Veteran. Bill was a retired history professor at SUNY Geneseo where he taught for 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo and their Men's Club. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Funeral Mass Tuesday, 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Livingston-Wyoming ARC, 18 Main St., Mt.
