Dean was on the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors when I was hired as Executive Director in 1994. In my ten years of service to the organization, I sought his guideance on a number of initiatives. He was honored by the Chamber in the late 1990s as Livingston County Distinguished Leadership recipient. He chaired the Livingston County Development Corporation as it assimilated into the Chamber assuring the community that a unified business organization was in place to meet the needs of a growing County. Thank you Dean for a life of service, coated in compassion, and lived with integrity.

Mr. Johnston was a friendly and familiar face as I was growing up on Westview Crescent. Condolences to the family on their loss.

My condolences to Dean Johnston's family. I worked for him at CPAC and when we were laid off one time, he asked if I could paint his house. He was always a class-act, always checking in daily with all the workers at CPAC. Everyone there had the greatest respect for him. Truly a great guy!

Dear Johnstons All,
You have been on my mind and heart since I heard of your dear father's passing a few days ago. I remember Dean as a very kind and skilled man, dedicated first to you as his family, his home, and to his many commitments- job ,church, service organizations, his golf and bridge games. Your family and mine have been connected ever since you moved to Geneseo, and lived next door, and I have never had better neighbors! I have treasured our friendship for 49 years, and have followed you and your children through all kinds of concerns; and now I send my heartfelt sympathy and prayers for all of you as you experience the loss of your father, and live out his legacy to each of you.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Crissman and Norm Bauer

I send my most sincere condolences to the whole family. Your father was a man with whom I worked closely. When he was President of the Board of Education, and I the president of the faculy at GCS, we negotiated a contact. It was a rare thing to be in those positions and yet come away with the utmost respect for the man on the other side of the table.
Peace.
