Obituary of Michael H. Gilman

Michael H. Gilman, age 68, of York Rd. East in York, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Mindy Wolfe Gilman, children, Lincoln Kaiser and wife Julie of Westwood, MA, Tyler Gilman of Steamboat Springs, CO, Halie and husband Bobby Johnson of Clifton Park, NY, grandchildren, Coleman and Mackenzie Kaiser, brothers, Stephen and wife Ellen Gilman of Reedfield, ME, Lincoln and wife Sue Gilman of St. Petersburg, FL, mother in law, Helen Wolfe of York, brothers in laws, Thomas and Timothy Wolfe of York, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael was born November 6, 1947 in Presque Isle, ME. He is the son of Horton P. and Mary Purkis Gilman. He was a graduate of Gorham High School and the University of Maine. Mike worked remodeling homes with his brother for their business, The Gilman Group. He also taught at Futures Builders Inc. in Raymond, ME. Here he was a role model and teacher to at risk youth. Teaching was his passion. In years past Mike was also a Ski Instructor for Vail Ski Resort in Colorado. Mary Purkis Gilman, Mike's mother, always would say, "A smile was born and Mike grew around it." No prior calling hours. A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held in Maine with a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 Murray Hill Dr., Mt.
