Obituary of Madilene W. Peri

Madilene W. Peri, age 77, of Elm Rd. in Geneseo, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at her residence. She was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Welch Sr. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert, her children, Steve (Louann) Peri of Groveland, Donna (Randy) Dawley of Scottsville, Mark (Amy) Peri of Avon, Keith (Karin) Peri of Hudson, OH, 5 grandchildren, Gregory (Kaeleigh) Peri, Sarah (Nicholas Renswick) Dawley, Amanda Dawley, Nicholas and Michael Peri, brother, Howard Welch of Geneseo, many nieces and nephews. Madilene was born June 23, 1939 in Geneseo, NY on the family farm on Elm Rd., the daughter of Edgar and Sarah Gillen Welch. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo where she was employed as Office Manager for 40 years. She also served St. Mary's Cemetery as their Cemetery Manager. Prior to St. Mary's, Madilene had worked for Attorney Joseph Quirk on Main St. in Geneseo. Madilene was also a member of the Geneseo Rotary Club, the Town of Geneseo Assessment Review Board 1975-77, and the Geneseo Town Planning Board 1990-92. She served on the Geneseo Town Council for 16 years as the first woman council person, having been elected in November 1977. She served Geneseo from 1978-1989 and again from 2001-05 where she held the title of Deputy Supervisor. Madilene was an active member of the Livingston County Republican Committee. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo with Father Edward Dillon officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
