Obituary of Patricia D. Foos

May 2, 2016 at age 89, Pat joined her husband Marty to discover the glories of heaven and rejoice with the Lord. She was born August 8th 1926 in Kearney, NJ, the daughter of Patrick and Margaret McBride, and grew up in New Jersey with her 6 siblings. After graduating from Caldwell College she worked at the University of Rochester as a research technician. In 1951 she married her lifelong partner and love of her life Martin A. Foos. They raised 5 children, Margie, Fran, Annabelle, Marty, and Patrick, in Greece NY. After Marty’s retirement they lived in Albany NY for a few years and eventually settled at “the Rose of Sharon” in Garwoods NY. Anyone who knew Pat knows her laugh. She had a great sense of humor and knew how to put a positive spin on just about anything. Her positive attitude toward life stemmed from her confidence that “all things work for good to those that love the Lord.” She knew how to tell a good story, with just the right amount of embellishment. Pat’s life was defined by her faith and her belief in the power of prayer. If someone was troubled she would listen and then offer to pray with them. Her “prayer jar” was full of small pieces of paper, each one with the name of someone in need of prayers. Once your name ended up in that jar it stayed there, because after the crisis we could still use some extra prayers. Pat was predeceased by her husband, Martin in 2015, sister, Diane McBride and brother, Adrian McBride. She is survived by her children, Margie (Jeffrey) LaTourette of Canandaigua, Frances (Fred) Shannon of Avon, Annabelle Foos of Livonia, Martin (Lauren) Foos of Hamlin, Patrick (Jessica Kuter) Foos of Bridgeport, grandchildren, Joshua Shannon, Erin (Nick Applegate) Shannon, Kevin (Haley) LaTourette, sister, Frances Maloney of Dallas, TX, brothers, Kevin (Elizabeth) McBride of Chili, Jerome McBride of Punta Gorda, FL, David (Karla) McBride of Gates, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday, May 14th, 2-5 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorial Services will be held Monday, May 16th at 11 AM at the Garwoods United Methodist Church. The family is grateful for the support Pat and Marty received from their church family in Garwoods, and the love and care Pat received from the volunteers and staff at Teresa House in Geneseo during her final days.
