Sympathy and prayers are extended to the family of Doris. She was a wonderful and caring individual, who always remembered and thought of others. We met through the New York State Retired Teachers' Association, and we worked together on a committee. Doris was always willing to promote the common good, always had a smile, and most of all - lived a life of love and warmth for all. May she rest in peace!

I just today read the obituary about your mother, Doris Whitney.
My name is Douglas Morgan and I was born in Groveland Station in 1950. We lived in the house next to your mother - the one next to the Presbyterian Church. My mother is Miriam Rider and her parents ran the Rider Store across from the Richmond Store.
The house your mother lived in was originally owned by my great-grandfather, Robert Pearce.
As a life member of the Livingston County Historical Society, I ran into your mother on several occasions and we also enjoyed talking about Groveland Station.
Doris was a wonderful person and I extend my condolences to your and your family.
My mother and her brother Robert also send their condolence.

So sorry to hear about Doris's death. She was a most remarkable women who was loved by all. She always had a smile on her face & willing to help everybody. When she was at Perry she was always organizing faculty activities, especially her baseball & football pools where the winners had to buy donuts for the losers. I remember her & Harold setting out in the summers to visit every major league ball park in that beat up old van I wouldn't want to drive to Geneseo. This was before GPS's & cell phones. We were unable to be there since we had just arrived in Florida but I felt I was especially close to Doris & felt she was a saint on earth. When I talked to our kids they also remember Doris & really loved her also.
Our deepest sympathies,
Chuck & Sandi

Doris was a grand lady and dear friend of my grandmother Dorothy Buell. I have fond memories of travelling and playing cards with them... She was always supportive in my bowling and Boy Scouting adventures... and I got her in on a visit to Camp David as my "great aunt" when I was stationed there... Rest in Peace.

I am sorry for your loss. Your mother was very kind to me when I attended Perry High School. In those days, it was not a requirement for teachers and staff to be understanding of any difficulties a student might be having. Thank you for sharing her with all the student of Perry.

Many Thursday mornings Doris would come and read the bible with us.She always said that she knew she would be right where she should be, and I am sure she has earned her spot - with Harold in all the good and light and hope that she lived.

My “mom” has gone to heaven to be with her son, my best friend, Dave Whitney. My world as a teenager was much better because of Doris Whitney. So many fond memories of spending time with Eli, doc, Mom, Kate and Mary Whitney at the lake and in Groveland Station. I will never forget her kindness, her sense of humor, her love for her husband and her children. Doris was an exceptional wife and mother. We will miss her.

Doris was our families school nurse and we all loved her. She and my Mom Edith Smith Mollnow were long time friends as Mom taught at PCS. She and Mom were born in the same year. Our Mom passed away in 2013. I know she and Mom are reunited again. Hallelujah. Your Mom was one of those special people. We have three jewelry boxes that your Dad made for us. Still have one of them on my dresser.
