Obituary of Donald W. Hartnett

Donald W. Hartnett, age 94, of Reservoir Rd. in Geneseo and Owasco Lake, NY, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his residence in Geneseo following a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Bird Hartnett in 1994, his parents, Howard and Nellie Hartnett, step mother, Katherine Hartnett, brothers, Bernard and Victor Hartnett, grandson, Benjamin Cornwell. He is survived by seven children, Dale (Kathe) Harnett of Geneseo, Dawn Fahrer of Avon, David Hartnett of Lakeville, Cindy (Dan) Pope of Moravia, NY, Nancy Wood of Caledonia, Laurie (Timothy) Cornwell of Moravia, NY, Dennis (LuAnn) Hartnett of Geneseo, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister, Deloris, Pope of Henderson Harbor, NY brother, Coral (Anne) Hartnett of Moravia, NY, many nieces and nephews. Donald was born November 3, 1921 in Bear Swamp, NY the son of Howard and Nellie Forrest Hartnett. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the Cornell Agriculture Program. Donald was a carpenter for Eastman Kodak in Rochester. He also served as Geneseo's Town Assessor for 30 years. Don was a long time member of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo. Friends may call Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd., Geneseo, NY with Father Edward Dillon officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
