Obituary of Martin A. Foos

Martin Arthur Foos, August 26, 2015, was called home to rejoice with the Lord. Born May 4th 1924 to Annie and Joseph Foos, He grew up in Greece NY with his 6 siblings. A veteran of WWII, he served his country honorably in Europe. Upon returning home he met his wife Patricia and raised his children Mary Margret, Frances, Annabelle, Martin and Patrick. He graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Chemistry, and retired from Kodak after working as a chemist for 34 years. A man of many talents and interests, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball, photography, gardening, wine making and many others. Blessed with natural ingenuity, he could build or repair just about anything. If he didn't have the perfect tool for a job, he would create it. He was an active member of the Town of Greece political landscape and a strong voice for the Republican Party. Of his many virtues, chief among them was his unwavering Christian Faith. He truly lived a life of love and service to The Lord. Whether it was setting aside a plate for a struggling neighbor before serving dinner, or putting his construction talents to use for those in need, Marty continuously showed up where help was needed and quietly and humbly went to work, putting right the wrong and assisting where he could. A man of few words, he set a powerful example of what it means to be a Good Christian. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Foos, children, Margie (Jeffrey) LaTourette of Canandaigua, Frances (Fred) Shannon of Avon, Annabelle Foos of Livonia, Martin (Lauren) Foos of Hamlin, Patrick Foos of Bridgeport, NY, grandchildren, Joshua Shannon, Erin (Nicholas Applegate) Shannon, Kevin (Haley) LaTourette, sisters, Tess Henchen and Mary Foos both of Greece, Marguerite Hemple of MO, brother, Robert Foos of Chili, many nieces and nephews.
