Obituary of Dr. James B. Jackson

Dr. James B. Jackson, 94, of Morgan Estates in Geneseo, died February 18, 2012 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. Dr. Jackson was predeceased by his wife Dolores and daughter Carol Sommers. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Jackson of Arlington, MA, several nieces and nephews. Dr. Jackson was born October 23, 1917 in Rochester, NY the son of Robert and Margaret Bell Jackson. He was a US Army World War II Veteran. Dr. Jackson graduated in 1945 from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelors Degree in Education, and in 1947 he received a Masters of Science Degree from SUNY Albany. In 1956 Dr. Jackson earned his PHD in Educational Administration from Columbia University in New York City. He taught at York Elementary School from 1938-1943, was Principal at Delmar Elementary School from 1946-1952, Assistant Superintendent at Northport Elementary School from 1952-1955 and Supervising Principal at Scarsdale Elementary School from 1956-1963. In 1963 Dr. Jackson began fulltime at SUNY Geneseo as Professor and Curriculum Coordinator for the Holcomb Campus School. Dr. Jackson remained Principal at the Campus School until 1971. He retired from SUNY Geneseo as a Professor of Education receiving the title of Professor Emeritus of Education in 1973. No Prior Calling Hours.
