Obituary of Margaret M. Smith

Margaret M. Smith, 90, of Geneseo, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. John's Home in Rochester, NY. Mrs. Smith was a longtime resident of Elm St. in Geneseo. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald, son Stephen and great granddaughter Mira Brouwer. She is survived by her children, Katherine Smith of West Henrietta, Anne (Pat) Williams of Geneseo, David (Cynthia) Smith of Rochester, Barbara Lifton of Ithaca, Susan Smith of Geneseo, Edward (Liz) Smith of Alpharetta, GA, Gregory Gibbs of Bethesda, MD, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brother, William (Kit) Murphy of Bloomfield, nieces and nephews. Margaret was born May 8, 1921 in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of John E. and Katherine Husbands Murphy. She earned her Nursing Degree from Rochester General Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse at FF Thompson Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua. Margaret was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo and was a volunteer for the Geneseo Food Pantry. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church Parish Center, 13 North St. in Geneseo. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
