Thomas M. Costello, 78, formerly of Avon, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at his residence in Melbourne Beach, Florida. He is survived by his wife Lois S. Costello of Melbourne Beach, FL, his children, Kathryn Costello of Centreville, VA, Kristine (Thomas) Alsheskie of Plymouth, WI, Thomas (Kari) Costello II of Manassas, VA, Karalynne (Thomas McGinnis) Temperato of Avon, 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jason, Larry, Stefan, Emily, Melissa, Myranda and Devon, 3 great grandchildren, Corbin, Margaret and Ryan, 5 step grandchildren, Thomas, Tracy, Amy, Brad and Amanda, 2 step great grandchildren, William and Kate, 3 sisters, Patricia Norris Anderson of Rochester, Jacqueline (John) Robinson of Geneseo, Susanne (Rick) Parsons of Stratford, CT, sister in law Jane Cook of Massena, NY, many nieces and nephews. He was born March 5, 1933 in Geneseo, NY, the son of Thomas and Loretta Quinn Costello. Tom was a graduate of Geneseo High School, Alfred Agricultural and Technological College, and the University of Rochester. He was a US Navy Korean War Veteran having served from 1953-1956. Tom served as Avon Town Clerk from 1968-1971. He was a member of the Avon American Legion Post # 145 and the Satellite Beach, FL American Legion Post # 200 . Tom was an avid sportsman, hunter, pool player, wood carver and bowler, having bowled a 300 game in 1973 in Scottsville. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 4-7 PM. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11 AM in West View Cemetery, Route 436 in Ossian with Father Edward Dillon of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo officiating.
