Obituary of Raymond J. Fournier

Father Raymond J. Fournier, 86, a Trappist Monk and Ordained Preist at Our Lady of the Genesee Abbey in Piffard, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his brother, Monsignor Edmund Fournier. He is survived by Abbot John Denburger and all his fellow Trappist Monks at Our Lady of the Genesee Abbey, as well as many cousins. He was born March 24, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Archie and Josephine Rassette Fournier. As a Christian Brother (FSC) from 1940 to 1978, he taught at schools in Brooklyn, NY; the Philipines, where he was President of a college; and Syracuse, NY. He entered Our Lady of the Genesee in 1978, and was ordained Preist in 1981. He served the Genesee Community as Novice Master and Prior, and was a Confessor for many monks and guests. No prior calling hours. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 24, 2010 at 9:45 A.M. at Our Lady of the Genesee Abbey. Burial will be in the Abbey of the Genesee Cemetery.
