Obituary of James L. Parmley

 

James L. Parmley, 89, of Crossett Rd, Geneseo, NY, died peacefully April 18, 2010 after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in East Venice, NY, the son of Fred and Sarah Lamphere Parmley. After serving 4 years in the United States Coast Guard, Jim resided in Binghamton, NY for many years prior to moving to Geneseo. He retired from SUNY Geneseo in 1980.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte Cooper Parmley, two sons, James J (Sharon) Parmley of Manlius, NY, David L Parmley of Hornell, NY, a daughter, Anne (Paul) Dunn, of Sylvan Beach, NY; two grandsons, Bryan J (Elizabeth) Parmley of Manlius, NY and Shawn Masse, of Oneida, NY and one great granddaughter, Katherine Parmley of Manlius, NY, a sister, Frances Rolls of Binghamton, NY, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Parmley.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St in Geneseo. Funeral Mass Thursday 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Livingston County Hospice, 2 Livingston County Campus, Mt. Morris, NY 14510-1691.
