Donald Pickering Obituary
Donald C. Pickering, 79, a resident of the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia, died there on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Mr. Pickering resided in Dansville prior to his entry into the Veterans Home.
He is survived by his loving companion with whom he resided Pauline Gilg, and her children, Peggy (Mauro) Montemarano of Cuylerville, Gordon (Patty) Gilg of York, Larry Gilg of Churchville, Pam Gilg of York, 10 step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was born February 21, 1930 in Macedon, NY the son of Harry and Mabel Randall Pickering. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Don was a member of the Dansville VFW Post 6780, Dansville Loyal Order of Moose, and the Avoca American Legion. He was retired from the Gamarel Company in Hillside, NJ.
Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Friday July 31, 2009 from 4-8 PM where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Leicester Cemetery with full military honors.
