Type Obit Here Austin W. Erwin, born in Rochester, New York on September 22, 1918, to Austin and Ruth Erwin, died June 7, 2009, at the Sunwest Choice Care Center in Sun City West, Arizona. Affectionately known by his friends as "judge," is survived by his wife Lorna of Sun City West, Arizona, son Austin W. Erwin, III of Tempe, Arizona and sister Jeanne Erwin of New York City, sister-in-law Martha (Walter) Hosenfeld of Gilbert, Arizona & Rochester, New York, nephews Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hosenfeld and their two children of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania and Donald Hosenfeld of Scottsdale, Arizona. Austin attended Cornell University and Albany Law School. He was active many years in the practice of law with his father, Senator Austin Erwin and with good friend Mark Welch. Austin also had great interest in horses having owned, shown and ridden for many years. He was a member of the Genesee Valley Hunt. Austin became a Livingston County Court Judge and later Justice of the Supreme Court where he served for thirteen years. Austin was active in Rotary Club and became an honorary member. He was also active in the American Red Cross. He was a life long member of Central Presbyterian Church of Geneseo, New York where he served as a Deacon. He was an avid reader, world traveler, lover of fine food and jazz as well as a top notch golfer. If there is place Austin most loved, it was New York City where he often visited. After retiring from the judiciary he moved to Sun City West, Arizona. Retirement and a life of golf wasn't enough so he and Lorna decided to become realtors for Ken Mead Realty. He continued to meet and make new friends since moving to Arizona in 1997. Austin will be missed by his family and his many friends. Memorial Service for Austin will be held Friday, July 24th at 11am at Central Presbyterian Church, located at 31 Center Street, Geneseo, New York 14454.
