Stein, JoAn (Zimmerman) Conesus Lake; Lakeville: April 7, 2009, Age 82Beloved wife of William G. Stein; cherished mother of Barbara (Harry) Hellwig, Dansville, NY; Robert (Katherine) Stein, Carversville, PA; Diane Stein Glidden, Lakeville; William D. (Dana) Stein, Chicago, IL; special grandmother to grandchildren Amanda and Laura Hellwig, Julia and Chloe Stein, David and Jeremy Glidden, Jonathan and Cristian Stein; loved by many relatives and dear friends.JoAn was an active member of Chili Presbyterian Church and Geneseo Central Presbyterian Church and received the 2002 Excellence in Ministry Award from the Livingston County Coalition of Churches. She was a 1948 graduate of Heidelberg College (Ohio) and Purdue University (1950) in Agricultural Biochemistry. She was awarded Lifetime Membership in the Girl Scouts where she was a troop leader and served on the Board and Finance Committee. She also served on the Churchville-Chili Board of Education (1967-1973) and worked at the "Gates-Chili News". JoAn retired in 2000 from IDS/American Express Financial Advisors as a financial advisor having attained the distinction of reaching a Top 2% Producer and many excellence awards. She was a nominee for the Athena Award (Business Woman of the Year) and a member of the AAUW Investment Club. Her retirement years were filled enjoying her children and grandchildren, her volunteer efforts, her bridge group, her investment club, pie baking, rug braiding, quilting, crossword puzzles and over 40,000 FreeCells. And she sure did love to read!All are invited to a memorial celebration of JoAn's remarkable, generous life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Central Presbyterian Church, 31 Center St., Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, contributions can to made to Girl Scouts of WNY, 1020 John St., West Henrietta, NY 14586; Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510; or to Central Presbyterian Church Music Memorial, 31 Center St., Geneseo, NY 14454.
