Obituary of Rosemary Teres

Dr. Rosemary Welsh Teres, PhDCherished wife of nearly 46 years, beloved mother, adored grandmother, and respected Professor, Rosemary Welsh Teres died Saturday, February 21, 2009 due to complications from cancer. Rosemary spent her last days of life at Teresa House, cared for by the wonderful staff, incredible volunteers, as well as her extraordinary friends and immediate family members. Rosemary was born and raised in Queens, New York and retired from Wells College in 2003 as a tenured, Full Professor and remained Professor Emeritus until her death. Her great dedication and love of education led her to seek office and run for the Geneseo Central School District Board of Education where she served as Board President. She is survived by her devoted husband Michael Teres, her daughter Sarah Elizabeth Teres, her son Jedediah Joseph Teres, her son in law Stephen Sifling, her daughter in law Tara Colton, her three cherished grandchildren Tula, Malia "Molly", and Archer Sifling. She leaves behind her sister Patricia Welsh Gallagher (John), Joseph "Sonny" Welsh (June) and Kenneth "Jack" Welsh (Neal Burgess). She also leaves several nieces and nephews, as well as their children.A town memorial service is planned for May 23, 10 a.m. at Geneseo Central School.
