Donald J. Savino Sr., age 82 of Tuscarora Ave. in Geneseo died Wednesday October 22, 2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born November 28, 1925 in Groveland to the late Joseph and Josephine Rongo Savino. He was married on June 10, 1950 in St. Lucys Church in Retsof, to Josephine Christiano Savino whom he has been married to for 58 years. Don was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II having served from 1944-1946. He had been employed at Craig Developmental Center in Sonyea as a Ward Attendant, retiring after 33 years of service. He was also employed as a rural route carrier for the US Postal Services for many years. He was also a well known carpenter throughout the area having built approximately 18 houses over the years. Don had attended college for two years including classes at SUNY Geneseo, and was a communicant of St. Marys Church in Geneseo. Don was predeceased by 2 brothers, Joe and Frank Savino. Besides his wife Josephine, he is survived by a son Donald (Angela) Savino Jr. of Geneseo; two daughters, Donna (James) Galbraith of Wadsworth and Suanne Savino (Lynn Powers) of York; grandson Peter Savino of Geneseo, step granddaughter Nicole Galbraith of Spencerport, 2 brothers Carl (Olga) Savino of Cortland and Anthony (Suanne) Savino of Painted Post, NY, nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 4-8 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main Street in Geneseo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM in St Marys Church in Geneseo. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery in Geneseo with Full Military Honors.
