Obituary of Joseph Gambino

Joseph Gambino, 84, of Seneca Ave. in Geneseo, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter Barbara(Joe Hageman) Vanelli of Perry, NY, step son Nunzio Bonefede of Yorkshire, NY, step daughter Patricia(Donald) Johnson of Scotia, NY, grandchildren Joseph(Natalie) Gambino of Perry, Michelle Vanelli of Perry, Michael Bonefede of Geneseo, Stacy(Joseph) Rossi of San Diego, CA, Greg Johnson of Scotia, 4 great grandchildren, brother James Gambino of Perry, sister in law Teresa Gambino of Perry, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter JoAnne Gambino. He was born October 22, 1923 in Mt. Morris, NY the son of Dominic and Christina D'Agostino Gambino. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Perry Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1941 Historical Aircfaft Group in Geneseo and St. Mary's Chuch in Geneseo. Joe was a well known muscian throughout the area for his excellence on the accordian with The Joe Gambino Band. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Edward Dillon of St. Mary's Church in Geneseo officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo with Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Family at 8 Seneca Ave., Geneseo, NY 14454.
