Obituary of Margaret W. Simpson

Margaret W. Simpson, 89, a resident of the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, died there Friday, September 12, 2008. Mrs. Simpson was a longtime resident of York prior to her entry into the nursing home. She is survived by her husband Raymond, her children Carol (William) Hasler of Piffard, Barbara (Roger) Huff of Scottsville, Shirley (Terry) Mandeville of Leicester, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sisters in law Florence Simpson of Caledonia, Phyllis (Everett) Hunn of Piffard, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruthanna (George) Davis and her brother in law Kenneth Simpson. She was born December 27, 1918 in LaGrange, Illinois the daughter of Wyatt and Mary Gluys Wood. Margaret received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing from Cornell University. She was employed at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester until her retirement. She was a 28 year volunteer at Batavia Veterans Hospital and a Livingston County Department of Social Services volunteer. She was a faithful farmer's wife and an active member of the York United Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities. No prior calling hours. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the York United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neil Frood officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.
