I knew John from ice hockey officiating since I moved to Rochester in 1999. John and his entire family was always welcoming, and on the ice, he was one of the best officials we had in this area. His enthusiasm and talent were apparent from the first time I met him and his friend Chris. I enjoyed every experience I had to work with him on the ice. To his family, please know that he connected so positively with all of us in the officiating community because he really cared, and we knew he cared. Fot myself as well as for those of us in the tight-knit ice hockey community in and around Rochester, he will be missed.

To the Curry family and especially to my friend Melinda,
I was deeply saddened to hear of your tragic loss. Our lives are very fragile and so easily changed in a moment. Regardless of their age, our children should never be taken before we are. And so now your role as a parent has changed to one of preserving John's memory and being thankful for the blessing of his life with you, short though it may have been. I am hopeful that your pain will ease in time and that you will come to know the full impact of John's legacy. I think only those who knew him best and loved him most will know the real joy of who John was.
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord

Jody & Jeff, Mr & Mrs Curry,
My thoughts are with you and I wish I could pay my respects in person. I didn't have the opportunity to know John-John as an adult but he seemed as sweet as I remembered him as a little boy.
I've tried to call numerous times but was unable to get through since I'm unsure if I have the right number but my prayers are with you.

I am going to miss John-John's so very much. I wish I could pay my respects in person. My thoughts are with the Curry family. This is so very difficult for those who grew up with John and has deeply affected so many. John always had a spot in my heart and it now aches in his memory. Dear John Melinda and Family:
I am so sad. John-John was such as sweet person. I have some great pictures and memories of him. Today is the anniversary of Paul’s death and I can’t help but pray that Paul will take John under his “wing”. Please know that there are many who care about you, share in your sorrow, and wish that there was some way they could lighten your burden.

o.k., Lenny must have been helping me with the one just before this. I tried to write a note and it just kept sending me back to light another candle. Thanks Lenny. There are no words to describe my sorrow for all of you. I am so heart broken. I still picture shy little John-John at nursery school. He was a quiet gentle soul. I feel a little tiny bit of peace when I think that Lenny and Mark Dewyer have welcomed him to his new home and they will take care of him for you. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
Mary.

My memories of John are watching Mike play soccer with him. He was excited to be on his team and see them get the job done... Seeing him coming over to our house to meet the boys to have a good time and wish Mike good luck when he was to return to Iraq after home on leave.
God Bless You John
