Obituary of Elaine Maslin Shott Kimber

Geneseo/Rochester: Elaine Maslin Shott Kimber, retired reading teacher and member of Central Presbyterian Church of Geneseo, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Rochester General Hospital after years of successfully overcoming one health challenge after another. She was born August 2, 1937, in Southampton, NY to J. Alexander and Anne Maslin Shott. Elaine graduated from East Hampton High School and SUNY Fredonia where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. After completing her degree in Elementary Education she taught in Rochester, Geneseo, Avon and Mt. Morris, NY. Upon marrying Clarence N. Kimber II in 1961, the couple moved to Geneseo, where they resided for 41 years. Mrs. Kimber served as Sundat school teacher, Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, contributing to the development of hundreds of children. She was a member of the Geneseo Garden Club, enjoyed playing bridge and serving others. She found joy in the grand as well as small triumphs of life. Predeceased by her sister J. Marilyn Gorman in March of this year, Elaine is survived by her husband Clarence of Rochester, NY, son Tom(Karin) Kimber and granddaughters Hope and Lilly of Morrisville, NY, daughter Kathy(Artie Dietschler) Kimber of Rochester, brother in law, nephew, many cousins and friends. No prior calling hours. Memorial Services were held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Central Presbyterian Church, 31 Center St. in Geneseo with Rev. Beth Godfrey officiating. Interment was in the Central Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
