Obituary of Samuel J. Battaglia

Samuel J. Battaglia, age 94, a resident of Morgan Estates in Geneseo, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Kimball Battaglia, stepson, Alan Dunn, sister, Rose Battaglia, brother, Russell Battaglia and brother in law Jim Kelly. He is survived by 2 daughters, Gail (Jon) White of Geneseo, Nancie (Ed Finnerty) Battaglia of Lake Placid, 2 grandsons, Joshua (Tracey) White of Thornton, CO, Morgan (Carrie Reynolds) White of Geneseo, 2 sisters, Fran Kelly of Geneseo, Geraldine (Milton) Dickens of Venice, FL, brother, Charles (Marie) Battaglia of Waterloo, sister in law, Sally Battaglia of NYC, step grandchildren, Casey (Mitty Baker) Dunn of CA, Randy (Dee Dee Kingsbury) Dunn of Scottsville, Heather Dunn of FL, step great grandson, Jarrett Dunn of CA, many nieces and nephews. Sam was born February 8, 1920 in Geneseo the son of Charles and Lena Pecora Battaglia. He started work at Livingston Country Club in Geneseo at the young age of 10 working as a caddy, then caddy master, graduating to greens superintendent and then restaurant manager. Sam had been employed at the Big Tree Inn and had also owned Sammy's Tavern, both in Geneseo. He was the restaurant manager at Livingston Lanes in his later years. No prior calling hours. A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 3-5 PM at the Livingston Country Club in Geneseo. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
